EECP Therapy

ECCP Program

What is EECP® Therapy?

External Enhanced Counterpulsation Therapy is a safe, noninvasive outpatient treatment for ischemic heart disease such as angina and heart failure. EECP® therapy typically improves symptoms, exercise performance and quality of life. The benefits are sustained for more than two years in most patients.

How is EECP therapy performed?
Each treatment lasts for one hour a day, five days a week, for a total of 35 sessions. During the treatment, you lie on a comfortable table with large blood pressure-like cuffs wrapped around your calves, thighs, and hips. The cuffs inflate and deflate at specific times between heart beats.

How does EECP therapy relieve the symptoms?
This therapy works by increasing the blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle which improves its ability to pump blood throughout the body.

Is EECP right for you?
-You have angina and/or heart failure
-Your heart medications no longer relieve your angina or heart failure symptoms
-Your symptoms have returned, you have been told you cannot or you’ve chosen not to have another of the following; bypass surgery, balloon angioplasty or stent, or other invasive procedures
-You do not have any other medical conditions that may prevent you from having EECP therapy
